READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR   :  MICHAEL EKPENYONG This chapter is about God's covenant with David. When David was dwelling in his house, he felt distraught because the Arka of the Lord was in a tent, while he himself was in a beautiful cedar house. ... Nathan told him that he should do whatever he feels is right because the Lord God of Israel is with him. The Lord said that when David’s days are fulfilled, he will join his fathers. It will be David’s son who will build the Lord a house, and God will establish him a kingdom. David felt humbled before the Lord, and asked who he was to be able to receive such blessings. The question is are you humble to receive uncommon favour and help Please be humble especially in the things of GOD . Also can the work of our hand produce uncommon favour  Depending on what you sow ( Always sow good seed) word God has spoken shall be established forever, so that His name will be magnified and glorified. He thanked God fo...

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  AFOLABI JOSEPH OLAJIDE Verse eight begins by exhorting these recently returned people to give thanks, to call on God’s name, and to make known God’s deeds among the peoples. After going through what they have gone through the Chronicler reminds them of how King David gave thanks and called on God. The point for us to know is that when God has been good to you, you ought to tell somebody.  These people had been hurt and defeated but now they are brought back to Jerusalem and somebody ought to praise God for it. Verse nine continues with “sing, sing psalms unto God, talk of all God’s wondrous works. These are action words. Praising God is active whether singing loud voice or a quite praise.  But more so when we begin to talk about the wondrous works that God has done for us, praise just happens. Verses ten and eleven tell us to glory in God’s name, to rejoice, and to seek the LORD. In these first four verses I see a lot of g...

\ READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  AFOLABI JOSEPH OLAJIDE Chapter 15 is about the Ark of the Covenant being brought to Jerusalem, in the City of David. David built places of residence for himself as well as an area where the Ark of God could stay. David pitched a tent just for the Ark of the Covenant, and he commanded that no one can carry the ark but the Levites. These were the people who God had chosen to carry the Ark and minister before Him. David gathered all the Israelites at Jerusalem for the Ark, after which he assembled the children of Aaron as well as all of the Levites who were to carry it. Zadok called many people, including Abiathar, who were the priests. For the Levites, he called Asaiah, Uriel, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, as well as Amminadab. They were the heads of the houses among the Levites for the Lord. He told them that they needed to sanctify themselves so that they are able to bring the ark of God to the place which has been prepared for it. ...

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  AFOLABI JOSEPH OLAJIDE And the Philistines came [against David], spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim. And David inquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? will You deliver them into my hand? And the LORD said, Go up; I will deliver them into your hand. So they came to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. And David said, God hath broken in on my enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of the place Baalperazim ( 1 Chronicles 14:9-11 ). Now it is interesting to me how that David sought guidance from the Lord and asked direct questions and received direct answers. I think that it is important that we ask God direct questions. We seek the guidance of the Lord by asking direct questions. Too many times we have our plans all set, and then we say, "Now, God, please bless my plans." Rather than seeking the guidance of the Lord and asking direct questions. "Lord, ...

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  AFOLABI JOSEPH OLAJIDE COMMENTARY Our study tonight is from 1chronicles chapter 9 vs 1 I will just be giving a brief summary.. We can read up for more understanding. David Rallies the Troops We know we promised no more genealogies, but we are in for some pretty heavy duty lists in this chapter. There's a list of the guys who followed David before he was king. They were from the tribe of Benjamin so they were related to Saul. There were also some warriors from Gad's tribe that teamed up with him. Oh, and don't forget those joiners from the tribes of Benjamin and Judah. A kingdom is not built overnight. It took several years for David to assemble a band of loyal warriors, willing to be at his side through any difficulty.   While he was in Philistine lands, escaping for his life, many defected Saul and came to his side. David considered each man that came to him as a gift from God. He had them in such high esteem that he preserved...

1 CHRONICLES CHAPTER 11

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  AFOLABI JOSEPH OLAJIDE COMMENTARY Chronicles Chapter 11 was about David, who was then made the second king of Israel. The people gathered before David who was at Hebron, and they welcomed him as their king. They proclaimed that the Lord sent David to shepherd his people, when even during the time of Saul, he was the one who brought his people in.  During this time, David made a covenant at Hebron between the people in the presence of the Lord. According to the word of God by Samuel, David was anointed king over all of Israel as it was the will of the Lord. David and all of the Israelites traveled to Jerusalem, which was then known as Jebus, because this was where the Jebusites were. The inhabitants of Jebus told David that he could not enter the land, however David took over the land and said that whoever strikes the inhabitants of Jebus first will be named chief and captain. David Builds a Great City Zeruiah had a son, who was...

1 CHRONICLES CHAPTER 10

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  AFOLABI JOSEPH OLAJIDE COMMENTARY Saul’s life can be summed up in one word – ‘unfaithfulness’: ‘he was unfaithful to the Lord’. This is a warning: Don`t become like Saul who ‘did not keep the command of the Lord… and did not seek guidance from the Lord’ (10:13-14). What a violent end for a violent man! Saul made many mistakes over the course of his life and time as king, but the greatest seemed to surround his relationship with God.  He refused to listen to  God’s leading time and time again and instead turned to Satan himself for guidance. Turning to a medium was a slap in God's face. God had continually offered His advice and leading to Saul, but Saul turned his back on God and asked the enemy for help instead. It was clear that Saul did not agree with God and it led him to a violent, tragic, untimely death. Saul had continually turned off God’s voice in his head and when it came time for his final moments, he wasn’t eve...

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  ADERONMU IBUKUNOLUWA COMMENTARY Our study tonight is from 1chronicles chapter 9 vs 1-44 Which I will just be giving a brief summary.. We can read up for more understanding. Our study since the beginning of the book of chronicles is based on descendants and genealogy  Which we will continue today. Today we will  be looking at Genealogy of the returned exiles and Saul's genealogy repeated. Under the Genealogy of the returned exiles we have the people of Judah that were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness. We have the benjamites The Levites We should be familiar with these names in our previous chapters. The priests and the gatekeepers From verse 1-21 ( Account were given on the names which we can read up) I will quickly want us to look at 22-34 That talked about the gatekeepers And what their functions was Altogether those chosen to be gatekeepers  at the thresholds numbered 212. And they were assig...

READ FULL CHAPTER  HERE COORDINATOR:  GBEMISOLA IDOWU COMMENTARY As we have seen the chapter gave an account of names of the sons of Benjamin We don't really have much to deal with, in this chapter Benjamin gave birth to like 5 children, one of them was Bela, Bela was picked,  We have 5 children and only Bela was picked, and the account of his children ws given too, he wasn't the only child I believe he was chosen because of his good works, how he lived his life,  He must have lived well, before his name can be written in the Chronicles Their names, were written according to how they lived and also ruled the people, their names might be written for a good or a bad report These people were leaders It is either they're been remembered for good or bad We have this account of names even to the generation of kish, which is the father of saul I hope we all remembered the story of saul.... How God chose him, he was living right from the beginning until he derailed fro...
