1 Chronicles Chapter 3 Summary: Chapter Summaries


Since the beginning of this book called chronicles

We have been talking mainly on descendants

At least for the last two chapters.

So today we will be looking at 3 descendants together

Descendants of David

Descendants of Solomon

Descendants of Jehoiachin

More like what Yoruba call awon 'omo omo omo'

David as seen as the father

Solomon as the son

And also Jehoiachin


Today is mainly on David's account. His descendants generally.

The main thing in the chapters are the names

And we have a little account about some of them in The book of Kings that we studied previously.

Verse 1-9 for today's chapter talks on sons of David..
Amnon ( Oldest) , Daniel, Absalom, adonijah, 
Shephatiah 
Ithream

These six sons were born to David in Hebron

Then when David reigned another 33 years in Jerusalem.
He had other sons which then included Solomon whose mother is Bathsheba

Descendants of Solomon
Which were Rehoboam, Abijah, Asa, Jehoshaphat Josiah among others
(Solomon is name we all are familiar with in the Bible)

We all studied about them in the book of Kings that gave account about their reign.

It was this Josiah that was one  of the descendants of Solomon that birth Jehoiakim

Then
The successors of Jehoiakim were his son Jehioachin 

So now we move to descendants of Jehoiachin

From verse 17- 24. 
Mainly what was listed there was for us to know the names of his descendants which were Hoshama
Nedabiah among others

The Sons of Pedaiah were zerubbabel and shimei

Then zerubbabel too birth Meshullam

Up till we got to Elioenai...
The last verse

We can't avoid names in this book, part of why it is called Chronicles.

One of the things I think we should look into is the fact that out of the names mentioned in this chapter

There were major  names that were known while some were minors.. More like nothing much..

Then there were people who actually did things that were right in sight of the Lord when they reigned
While some did not please God

Then there were people who actually did things that were right in sight of the Lord when they reigned
While some did not please God

Because there will always be reward.. Whether good or bad. for those who did good this during their reign
There was reward..

Let's just leave a good mark in our generation ( in our own little way) 
Pleasing God
So that when we eventually leave
We would be remembered for good things and our names will be written in the heart of people

Ecc 9: 10 
Whatsoever you do, do it well
For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom

Father please help us to that which is right
And to please you in all our ways
To walk according to you will.
May all our good works be rewarded

This is a warning: Don`t become like Saul who ‘did not keep the command of the Lord… and did not seek guidance from the Lord’ (10:13-14). What a violent end for a violent man!
